I have started writing fiddle tunes and I'm excited to have other musicians play them. Check these out. These are free to download, just please do me the courtesy of letting me know you are playing my songs. [email protected]
The Pelagic Suite
Inspired by a trip out to sea, searching for sea birds. These tunes represent some of the birds we saw on the boat.
Chumming the Gulls - It is common practice to throw out a trail of goodies to attract seabirds to the boat. The most common takers were the gulls: Western, Heermann's, and a couple of Sabine's. The B part of this waltz has the high-pitched calls of the gulls in it.

The Wing Runners - Pink-footed Shearwaters were abundant on my trip, and their weaving flight made me think of an Irish Air. This tune should have a relatively slow tempo.

9 Black-footed Albatrosses - We switched from popcorn to a slick of fish oil and the gulls were replaced by other species. First it was one (which brought all the birders running to the back of the boat to see). Then two, then three. Before we knew it, we were surrounded by 9 Black-footed Albatross. The A part of this hornpipe counts out 8 birds, and the B part exclaims "Nine! Nine! Nine!"

Little Yellow Bird Lost at Sea - I was surprised when we were visited by multiple songbirds. With no land in sight, it seemed as though these small travelers were doomed. But it really isn't so. Songbirds regularly migrate over water for hundreds of miles without stop.
